The challenge of this project was to achieve a single story house on a narrow site with as many rooms as possible getting natural light. High-level windows, a stepped plan and raked roofs helped achieve the search for sunlight. This was also our first step on our journey to integrate landscape and building. Here this came in the form of a ‘captured’ forest (courtyard), low windows framing views onto water, a swimming pool set at the heart of the building and glass ‘walled’ sides to rooms looking onto close-set gardens.
